High school career
Sorgi attended Fraser High School in Fraser, Michigan and was a letterwinner in football, basketball, and baseball. In football, he was the two-time Team Most Valuable Player, and as a senior, he garnered All-League honors, All-County honors, and All-State honors, and was a USA Today Honorable Mention All-USA selection. In baseball, he posted a batting average of .450 as a senior. Jim Sorgi graduated from Fraser High School in 1999 with a 3.7 grade point average.
College career
Jim Sorgi played college football for the Wisconsin Badgers.
Sorgi is Wisconsin's career pass efficiency leader (141.2), co-holder of most passing TD's in one game (5) and 6th in career passing yards in Wisconsin history.
Pro career
Jim Sorgi was drafted in the sixth round in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Since then, Sorgi has proved to be an adequate backup to star QB Peyton Manning. Sorgi finally found some decent playing time against the Denver Broncos in which he threw for 175 yards and 1 TD. In the 2004 NFL season, Jim Sorgi completed 17 of the 29 balls thrown for 175 yards. However, in the 2005 NFL season, he improved his stats to completing 42 of the 61 throws for a yard gainage of 444. Most of these throws were made in the game against Seattle at the end of the 2005 regular season when he played for most of the game.
As of the end of the 2006 regular season, he has five career touchdown passes and one interception.
Trivia
During Press Week before the Super Bowl, Sorgi talked about auditioning to be the new Ol' Lonely, Maytag's repairman character. ;
